Hi everyone, I just want to update you before I start updating our local history blog. I’m going to remove all old posts, the ones published prior to December 2023, and will be uploading all of the photos in the library’s Local History Photo Archive to this site.
I will continue to publish local history blog posts each Friday, including photos, complete old newspapers and more.
Look for a new page on the blog titled Local History Photo Archive.
So just a head up, as the change unfold this week!

Sounds like a wonderful addition to this site. How about some of the Corning Leader Newspaper from 1940 thru 1959?

Hi, thanks for the message.
Our head of Adult Services is supervising a project to digitalize all our old newspaper holdings, which should eventually be accessible through the NYS Historic Newspapers website, found at https://nyshistoricnewspapers.org/
And I will include a complete edition of the Evening Leader, from a century ago, with our regular Friday blog posts.
I’ll also post the news, when our newspaper holdings are available through the NYS Historic Newspapers website.
