Local History Photos & Newspaper: October 11, 2024

Hi everyone, here are the Local History Photos of the Week!

Local History & Newspaper blog posts are published on Fridays; and the next post will be up on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Local History Photo 1: Market Street, Corning, N.Y. (Circa Early 1900s)

Local History Photo 2: Railroad Yard (c. Early 20th Century)

This is an interesting photo for several reasons; first, it shows and old railway station in Corning and second, is the location of the station – where Wegmans in Corning is now! Very cool!

Local History Photo 3: The Old Old Corning Hospital (c. Early 20th Century)

Our final photo for this week shows what we might call the “old, old” Corning Hospital. The building was located in the same area as the Corning Hospital that was located across Denison Parkway from the Corning City Hall and was eventually torn down and another building built to house the hospital in the same block; the newer building was recently torn down and replaced with an apartment complex; while Corning Hospital was re-located to an area outside the city.
