Photo 1: Kids In Winter
Photo 1 is of a trio of kids in winter standing near a lake. If you have a clue as to what year this photo was taken, where it was taken or who the children in the photo are – let us know!

Photo 2: Is a group shot of distinguished gentlemen who I think might be sitting on the Corning Courthouse steps…
If you know who the gentlemen were, when the photo was taken or for certain where the photo was taken please let us know!

Photo 3: There is no mystery as to which building is features in this photo since the sign above the main entryway clearly says Corning Opera House. If you have any stories you’d like to share about the old Corning Opera House let us know!
And speaking of the old Corning Opera House – did you know The New York public Library has a Digital Collection of images that are free to download? They do! You can even order prints, staring with a size of 18″ x 24,” of many of the items in their Digital Collection — including, and you guessed it!, prints of the old Corning Opera House — here is the image they have in their catalog:

Also of note, we have the local paper, at times called the Corning Leader, Corning Journal or Corning Daily Journal, on microfilm from 1840 to the present — so you can visit the library and research local history and your family tree if you wish!

If you find any old photos of the Corning area that you don’t know what to do with – you can always donate them to the library! We’re happy to add new photos to our Local History Photo Archive.
